Make a difference this summer through love, hope and action

Project SHINE is a 2 week teaching English program conducted by CRRS (Culture Regeneration Research Society) that takes you to China where under-privileged students and teachers are awaiting for a summer of learning and friendship with you! We encourage young people, perhaps yourself, or even your son and daughter to participate in this meaningful cross-cultural experience!

Where?

融水 Rongshui County in (广西) Guangxi Province

Rongshui County is 5 hours away from the famous Guilin city within the Guangxi Province. Guangxi is one of the most beautiful regions in China, as it is characterized by mountains and terraces. Guangxi is listed as an "autonomous region" (廣西壯族自治區) in China's map. The people of Rongshui are descendents from the "Miao Ethnic Tribe", they are considered to be an ethnic minority group. They are the native people whom inhabit this land with its beautiful traditional festive clothing and dances.

CRRS sponsors Guangxi Senior High School Students

The family members of the students living in rural regions in Guangxi are usually farmers and have lower income. The families usually live in the mountainous area and it may take the students 4-5 hours to walk to school every day. Therefore students must live in the dormitory within the school. Students have free education until Junior High because the Chinese government have implemented the "Nine year free education" policy, but Senior High students have to pay for their own tuition plus the cost for text books, room & board and stationary supplies. That's why CRRS supports the Senior High students instead of other age group.

Guangxi

Rongshui II Senior High is one of the schools that CRRS sponsored for over 8 years. In June 2008, CRRS sponsored a special resource center for Rongshui II Senior High School with 60 computers and library books.
